This essay is based on an analysis of two textual layers: a transcript of a mediumistic séance (channeling) in which Irina Podzorova, a participant in the "Cassiopeia" project, acts as a contactee with the "spirit" of Helena Blavatsky — and a film script reflecting the biography and worldview of Irina Podzorova herself. Both texts are inextricably interwoven: speaking through Blavatsky's mouth, Podzorova constantly connects her fate with her own.

This dual narrative opens a unique opportunity: to see not merely a "biography in the mirror," but an archetypal rhyme — two feminine spiritual paths, separated by a century and a half, yet constructed according to a similar internal logic. The question of the channeling's authenticity is deliberately set aside here; we are interested in the psychological and cultural phenomenon, not the verification of metaphysical claims.

The very title of the essay — "Isis and Cassiopeia" — refers to two stellar images: Isis as the goddess of secret knowledge, eternal rebirth, and patroness of mysteries, alluded to by Blavatsky's first major book, "Isis Unveiled"; Cassiopeia — a bright constellation that gave its name to Irina Podzorova's project — the figure of a proud queen whose path through the sky invariably returns to its zenith.

Part I. Isis: Helena Petrovna Blavatsky
"I came into this body from the eighteenth spiritual level" — Spirit of Blavatsky (from the channeling)

1.1 Origins and Early Years: A Noblewoman with an Unwanted Body
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (née Hahn, maternal surname Fadeyeva) was born on August 12 (July 31, Old Style), 1831, in Yekaterinoslav (now Dnipro, Ukraine), into the family of artillery officer Pyotr Alekseevich Hahn and writer Elena Andreevna Fadeyeva. Her mother, the "Russian George Sand," died when her daughter was not yet eleven — and Helena found herself in a world of strict but bewildered guardians: her grandmother, Elena Pavlovna Fadeyeva, and grandfather, Andrei Mikhailovich Fadeyev, the governor of Tiflis.

In the channeling, Blavatsky describes her childhood as a time of unrecognized contacts: "I used to leave my body... I was about seven years old, I would lie down in bed, and it seemed to me that the blanket was pressing on me... I would raise my hand, but it was glowing in the dark. I would get up — and see myself standing next to the bed, and in the bed lay a little girl who looked very much like me." This image of the double, the astral projection in childhood, is not merely a biographical detail; it is a key metaphor for her entire life: she never fully belonged to the body she inhabited.

Separate note must be made of the physiological theme, cautiously but persistently outlined in the channeling. Blavatsky describes a congenital pathology of the female reproductive organs, making sexual life physically impossible for her. From the standpoint of karmic explanation offered in the text, this is seen as a "karmic knot" from a past incarnation. From the standpoint of psychology and medicine, this was likely a real condition (possibly vaginal atresia or uterine developmental anomalies) which determined her asexuality and alienation from the roles of "wife" and "mother" customary for a 19th-century woman.

1.2 Marriage, Escape, Wanderings: Reconstructing the "Lost Years"
At seventeen, Helena was married to Nikifor Vasilievich Blavatsky, the Vice-Governor of Yerevan, who was over sixty. In the channeling, she describes the event with bitter precision: he "first gently, then more persistently began to demand the fulfillment of marital duty" — and her sole experience of physical intimacy was torment. After this, she threatened to commit suicide if he tried again — and soon fled the house.

The following twenty-plus years (approximately 1849–1873) remain a "blank spot" in her biography — a subject of legends, speculation, and mythmaking by Blavatsky herself. The channeling paints a kaleidoscopic picture: Constantinople (earning money by playing the piano), circus tours in Europe, a first trip to Egypt and India, London — and a fateful street meeting with a delegation of Indians, among whom (according to her) was "Master Morya" himself.

The travels were not tourism: they were discipleship without a teacher, an expedition into the depths of the self, a search for a coordinate system for an experience that had no name. In Tibet (twice, according to Blavatsky's own account), she underwent what she called "initiation" — in the channeling, this is reinterpreted as the installation of three neural-sensory "chips" by representatives of the extraterrestrial civilization Esler, harmonizing her mediumistic channels.

1.3 The Theosophical Society: The Woman Who Founded a Religion
In 1873, Blavatsky arrived in New York — by her own admission, having purposely moved there on the "instruction" of her invisible teachers. In 1875, together with Colonel Henry Steel Olcott and others, she founded the Theosophical Society — an organization whose aim, in Blavatsky's own words in the channeling, was "the unification of all religions, philosophical systems, and scientific theories into one integrated paradigm of the Universe."

Her major works — "Isis Unveiled" (1877) and "The Secret Doctrine" (1888) — represented a grand synthesis of Eastern and Western esotericism, occultism, comparative religion, and evolutionary theory. In scope, they had no parallel in the 19th century; in terms of their influence on Western occultism, Theosophy, Anthroposophy, and the New Age, their significance can hardly be overstated.

In the channeling, Blavatsky retrospectively criticizes her own style: she was overly categorical in her stance toward the Christian church, and the structure of "The Secret Doctrine" should have been arranged differently — with clear attribution of sources for each communication. This self-critical view "from the beyond" unexpectedly coincides with the most balanced assessments of academic researchers.

1.4 Scandals, Slander, Exile
In 1885, the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) published a report by Richard Hodgson, accusing Blavatsky of systematic fraud: fabrication of "phenomena," forgery of Mahatma letters. Her reputation was destroyed. In the channeling, Blavatsky explains: the informants were her former students in India — Emma and Alexis Coulomb, whom she had forbidden to extort money from a wealthy rajah. Their revenge took the form of forged letters.

Significantly, in 1986, the SPR officially revised its verdict, acknowledging Hodgson's report as unfounded. But Blavatsky did not live to see this: she died on May 8, 1891, in London, during a flu pandemic, working on "The Secret Doctrine" until her final days. She was 59.

1.5 Archetypal Portrait of Isis
Blavatsky embodied the archetype of Isis-Wisdom: a woman who belongs not to family, not to the state, not to the church — but to Knowledge. Her body was an instrument, not a source of pleasure; her home was the entire world; her family, humanity. In this sense, she was radically atypical for her time and strikingly consonant with the image projected onto her by the channeling session: a being whose true identity lies beyond gender, nationality, and biography.

Part II. Cassiopeia: Irina Podzorova

2.1 A 21st-Century Contactee: Appearance and Role
Irina Podzorova is a contemporary Russian contactee, a teacher of "astral travel" and the "science of imagery," co-founder of the esoteric project "Cassiopeia" based in Voronezh. From the channeling materials and event announcements, her image emerges: a middle-aged woman with developed empathic sensitivity, a charismatic educator, a practitioner of OBE (Out-of-Body Experiences), and a medium.

The very name of her project — "Cassiopeia" — carries a dual meaning. Cassiopeia in astronomy: a bright, circumpolar constellation in the northern sky, visible all year round. Cassiopeia in mythology: the Ethiopian queen who boasted of her beauty — and was punished but not broken, forever rotating around the pole. A symbol of pride, punishment, and unrelenting return — a precise metaphor for the fate of any mystic who refuses a "normal" life.

2.2 Mediumistic Practice: The Technology of Contact
In the channeling, Podzorova demonstrates a developed technique of mediumistic work. Her method is not a "table-tipping" or a "spirit taking over the body": it is what she herself qualifies as astral contact — a part of her consciousness exiting into the subtle-material layers of reality and transmitting the information received there into verbal form. She always maintains the first person ("Irina," not "Blavatsky"), merely marking the transitions: "She says," "Elena shows."

In the channeling, Blavatsky explains the technique used by Podzorova herself, referring to her own curators: "In Irina's case — MidgasKaus or Lishioni, Raom Tiyan use special knowledge, tune in to a specific Spirit, search for them through the Akashic Records... And after that, they reach them." Here we have a rare case: a medium, through the mouth of the invoked spirit, describing her own working technique — self-description through an alter ego.

2.3 Biographical Parallels: Conscious and Unconscious
Throughout the channeling, Podzorova repeatedly discovers rhymes between her own biography and Blavatsky's — sometimes stating them explicitly, sometimes allowing them to emerge implicitly. The host Maxim notes, "Irishka, today you really, really look a lot like Blavatsky." And it's not just about appearance.

Blavatsky mentions three implanted "chips" — Podzorova clarifies, "Oh, just like Irina. How interesting. Everything matches." Blavatsky describes contact with the Esler civilization — Podzorova works with "MidgasKaus" from the same planet. Blavatsky tells of betrayal by students who wanted to seize power in the Theosophical Society — Podzorova nods, "A familiar situation." Blavatsky speaks of a goal — "to unite all religions into a single paradigm" — and Podzorova exclaims in amazement, "You just described our 'Cassiopeia' Project."

These parallels serve an important psychological function: they legitimize Podzorova's path through the authority of a historical predecessor. Simultaneously, they construct a narrative of continuity — an unbroken line of "Esler contactees" on Earth, linking the 19th and 21st centuries.

2.4 The "Cassiopeia" Project: Institutionalizing the Mystical
If Blavatsky operated in an era when Spiritualism was a fad of high society and occultism an intellectual challenge to positivism, Podzorova works in an era when the "spiritual marketplace" is extremely fragmented and competitive. Her response is not a book or a lecture, but an educational ecosystem: retreats, training levels, astral projection tests, a wellness center, live channeling sessions, sacred tours to Egypt.

This is a fundamental difference from Blavatsky: she created texts as her primary product; Podzorova creates experiences. Blavatsky wrote for readers; Podzorova works with practitioners. But the logic is the same — to provide people with tools for direct contact with a reality lying beyond ordinary perception.

Part III. Parallels and Divergences: A Comparative Analysis
3.1 Childhood as Initiation
Both women experienced an early rupture with "normal" childhood. For Blavatsky: her mother's death at 11, out-of-body experiences from age 7, hearing voices that no one could explain. For Podzorova: an invitation to physical contact with an extraterrestrial curator at 13. Both inhabited two realities from childhood: the everyday and the "other" — and for both, the "other" was more authentic.

In the channeling, Blavatsky bitterly notes the difference between her childhood and that of her current incarnation on Esler: "Mom and dad tell about the Soul, about the Spiritual world, about God, about the stars from early childhood. Admit that on Earth this is rare." This retrospective statement is simultaneously a critique of her historical environment and a justification for the mission of people like Podzorova: to create for children precisely the environment that Blavatsky herself lacked.

3.2 The Body as a Problem
Perhaps the most psychologically significant parallel is the complex, strained relationship both women had with their own physicality. Blavatsky — with her congenital physical peculiarity that made her biologically a non-woman in the traditional sense. Podzorova — as a practitioner of out-of-body experiences, a person for whom the body is essentially a "vehicle" for consciousness, not its source.

Both choose an asexual or supra-sexual (in the astral sense) strategy. In the channeling, Blavatsky describes her physical urges as being realized exclusively in astral contacts with "plasmic civilizations," which "helped harmonize energies." This is not pathology or abstinence — it is transgression: the transfer of erotic energy into a transcendent register, typical of many mystics from Teresa of Ávila to Ramakrishna.

3.3 Betrayal as Initiation
Both experienced slander from their own students. Blavatsky — the Hodgson report, the forged Coulomb letters. Podzorova — hints of criticism directed at her and the host Maxim, from which Maria Sokalska defends her live on air: "This person is doing incredible work on all levels."

The reaction to betrayal for both is not denial, but transformation: Blavatsky acknowledges elements of showmanship in her séances ("Yes, there were such elements — it was done by agreement... to attract people to the information") yet does not renounce the authentic core of her work. Podzorova also exists in a space of permanent justification: every broadcast begins with "project news," donation requests, and testimonial thanks.

Both cases demonstrate the classic mechanism of charismatic leadership: authority is maintained not by formal structures, but by personal devotion and the constant production of "signs" (phenomena, contacts, healings).

3.4 Loneliness and Community
Blavatsky was fundamentally alone her entire life: without family, without homeland, without religious affiliation. The Theosophical Society was her family — and simultaneously the source of her greatest betrayals. Podzorova exists within a constructed community: she has a partner (Maxim), students, a structure of mutual support. In a sense, she realizes what Blavatsky lacked: an organic community, not a movement scattered across the world.

This is not merely a biographical difference — it is a difference of eras. The 19th century was an age of solitary prophets; the 21st is an age of communities, platforms, live streams. Blavatsky wrote books; Podzorova hosts streams. But both solve the same problem: to create a space where the experience of the "other" can be collectively experienced and understood.

3.5 Legacy and Continuity
The channeling session constructs an explicit narrative of continuity: Blavatsky ascended to the 21st spiritual level — Podzorova came from that same level. They "worked together in the Spirit World." Blavatsky is currently incarnated on Esler — and "will become the curator of earthlings." Podzorova is the current "curator," temporarily acting.

This is not just a metaphor or a religious doctrine: it is a psychologically precise way of coping with one of the most difficult problems of charismatic spiritual leadership — the problem of legitimacy. Where do you get the right to teach? — Because you are part of an unbroken chain, begun by Blavatsky, the Roerichs, Vivekananda, the Vedic tradition — and further back into the depths of time.

Part IV. A Critical View: The Phenomenon of Self-Mythologization
4.1 Channeling as a Form of Autobiography
Analyzing the channeling text, it is impossible not to notice: the "Spirit of Blavatsky" speaks in a voice remarkably similar to Podzorova's own. She uses the same terminology ("Esler," "plasmoids," "Akashic Records"), shares the same values (love for Earth, condemnation of fanaticism, the principle of inner Light), and faces the same difficulties (betrayal by students, misunderstanding by the church). This does not necessarily imply conscious deception — but it definitely implies that channeling is a form of authorial projection.

From a psychological perspective, this is quite understandable: the medium constructs the image of the invoked Spirit using her own cognitive and emotional resources. Blavatsky speaks through Podzorova's mouth — and thereby Podzorova speaks through Blavatsky's mouth. This cycle of self-reflection does not make the session "false" — it makes it psychologically rich material.

4.2 Show and the Sacred: Blavatsky's Honesty
One of the most unexpected moments in the channeling is when the "Spirit of Blavatsky" admits that the phenomenological effects of her séances (Mahatma letters appearing from secret compartments, materializations) were staged by agreement with a group of like-minded people. "This was done to attract people to the information." And adds: "My experience shows that creating illusions for a spiritual purpose ultimately leads to nothing but disappointment."

This is a startling admission — regardless of who uttered it. It points to the central paradox of mystical leadership: authentic spiritual experience often needs "packaging" — spectacle, ritual, phenomena — to be heard. But the packaging always risks consuming the content. Blavatsky paid for this with her reputation. Podzorova, perhaps, is learning from this lesson.

4.3 The Dangers of the Path: Plasmoids and Self-Deception
There is a conceptually important fragment in the channeling: Blavatsky warns that during "unestablished" sessions, instead of Spirits, plasmoids appear — subtle-material beings that "read the image from the contactee's memory" and impersonate the invoked Spirit. This is a standard warning from traditional mediumistic practices, reformulated in "extraterrestrial" terminology.

Psychologically, this passage can be read as self-apology: "our" contacts are real because we follow the rules; "others" are dangerous imitations. But it also contains a genuine warning, relevant to any spiritual practice: the risk of mistaking one's own projections, desires, and fears for a message from outside. This risk is equally real for 19th-century Blavatsky and 21st-century Podzorova.

Part V. Synthesis: The Archetype of the Spiritual Seer
5.1 A Common Matrix of Fate
Despite all the differences in eras and circumstances, the biographies of Blavatsky and Podzorova are constructed according to a common matrix, which could be called the archetype of the spiritual seer. Its features: early awakening of supersensitivity; rupture with ordinary roles (wife, mother, homemaker); years of apprenticeship on "borders" — geographical, cultural, realities; building a community around special knowledge; conflict with institutional religions and scientific mainstream; betrayal by students; reliance on the claimed authority of a transcendent source.

This archetype is not exclusive to the "New Age": it is recognizable in Teresa of Ávila, Hildegard of Bingen, Anna Katharina Emmerick, Helena Roerich. In all cases, we see a woman who found a way to be heard in a patriarchal world, using the only resource that no one could take from her: direct access to the Absolute.

5.2 Transformation of the Language of the Mystical
Between Blavatsky and Podzorova lies not only a century and a half but also a complete shift in language. Blavatsky used Sanskrit, Buddhism, Kabbalah, Neoplatonism, "astral light," "akasha." Podzorova uses "chips," "neural-sensory channels," "plasmic civilizations." The content is structurally similar: hierarchies of beings, mediumistic contact, karmic causality, evolution of the Spirit. But the form is radically modernized: the mystical is dressed in science-fictional garb.

This is natural: each generation reinvents the sacred in categories accessible to it. The 19th century read Blavatsky in the language of Orientalism and occultism; the 21st reads Podzorova in the language of ufology and alternative science. The function is the same: to provide a "non-religious" person with an ontological framework extending beyond materialism.

5.3 The Question of Truth and the Question of Meaning
The question "is it true?" is less interesting than the question "why is it needed?". Blavatsky created one of the most influential syncretic spiritual projects in history — regardless of whether the Mahatmas actually wrote her letters. Podzorova builds a community of people seeking contact with the "other" and finding in that search meaning, healing, and a sense of belonging to something greater — regardless of whether "MidgasKaus" is a real extraterrestrial.

In both cases, the spiritual work is real — even if its metaphysical justification remains beyond verification. And in both cases, we have a woman who chose — consciously or by the compulsion of fate — a path where there is no ordinary peace, but instead a special, incomparable feeling: that her life is not accidental and that she is truly living it.

Conclusion: Stars That Never Set
Isis and Cassiopeia — both are circumpolar. The constellation Cassiopeia in northern latitudes never dips below the horizon; Isis in Egyptian tradition is ever-living, ever-resurrecting. These stellar images accurately describe what unites two women separated by over a century: their path has no "setting" in the ordinary sense, because they chose — or were chosen for — a service that does not end with earthly biography.

Blavatsky died almost completely discredited — and turned out to be one of the most cited and reprinted esoteric authors of the 20th century. Her Theosophical Society gave impetus to Anthroposophy, Yoga in the West, the New Age movement, and ecological philosophy. She lost the battle for reputation in her lifetime — and won the war for influence after death.

Podzorova is building her path now, and it remains open. But the very fact that she — like Blavatsky — has made a choice in favor of a transcendent, asexual, supra-mundane, non-institutional spiritual path, in an era when this still requires considerable courage, allows us to speak of her as a continuator of one of the most enduring and significant traditions of feminine spirituality in Russian and world culture.

Isis unveils the veils of Maya. Cassiopeia rotates around the pole, invariably returning to its zenith. Both tell us one thing: The Light does not go out. The Path continues.
